Do I need a service address?
All directors, partners, company secretaries or PSCs are required to have a service address at which they will receive statutory and legal correspondence in their capacity as an officer of the company.
How does this differ to a registered office address?

What mail can I receive?
You can receive all statutory mail – this includes mail from Companies House, HMRC, any other government agencies and legal documents. Such correspondence will be scanned and emailed to you on the same day that it is received. Depending on your instructions, your mail will be maintained at our offices, forwarded to you, or securely destroyed.
Can I use my residential address?
Yes, you can use your residential address as long as you are comfortable with the fact that this will be publicly visible on the Companies House register. If you would prefer to maintain your privacy, you can opt to use a 1st Choice Incorporations service address.
Can a director’s service address be overseas?
Yes, unlike the registered office, there are no geographic restrictions on where a service address can be.

Your residential address is your own personal home address. As explained above, your service address is where you will receive correspondence as an officer of the company. You can use your residential address for your service address; however, many opt for an address service to avoid their private address being publicly accessible.
What if I want to change my service address?
You can change your service address at any time. Companies House must be informed of any changes within 14 days of this taking place. If you would like to change your service address, 1st Choice Incorporations can manage the update for £30 + VAT. If you opt to use one of our addresses, we will update the company records free of charge.
